Badger Boys State 2019 – June 8th-15th
Ripon College – Ripon, Wisconsin
Join a Wisconsin tradition for its 78th year! An American Legion program, Badger Boys State is a once in a life time program for high school students entering into their senior year. Using the exercise of creating your own state government, you and 900 of your peers will have a unique opportunity to learn firsthand the importance of building a community. With student leaders, athletes, musicians, artists, and (eventually) friends around you, it’s an experience that will help you develop communication, compromise, collaboration, and leadership. In the end, you’ll be proud to be a Badger Boys Stater!
What Is Badger Boys State?
Badger Boys State is an intensive one-week summer camp for young men between their junior and senior years of high school to learn more about government and how to be a better leader.
How Does Badger Boys State Work?
As a selected attendee, students will act as a “citizen” of the fictitious 51 st state of the union, the Badger state. Being assigned to a city and county of the state, citizens will run for and elect their peers to positions within each level of the state government. These officials will act out the roles and responsibilities that they’ve been elected for the entire duration of the program, serving for the betterment of their community over the course of the week. In addition to this hands-on approach towards building a community, students will also learn from each other, develop friendships, network with our volunteer staff, and enjoy a thoroughly unique experience in their education.
